is it consistently flashing? many auto model have the ability to decipher basic information from reading the flashing codes. However your car doesn't just start flashing codes. in the 98 neon for example you have to turn the key to the AC/on position and off 3 times in a row and then it flashes the codes. Which yes are read by pauses, Most model also have an end of codes/or no codes code too. These codes range from very important components that are required to run your vehicle, to sensors, to you gas cap isn't on tight--no joke. If you engine isn't running hard and you've been keeping up your regular maintenance it could simply mean that you check engine light it self is faulty. Call a trusted shop or dealership and ask them if your specific model has the code reading option. Or if it has scheduled maintenance warning lights. If yes start there. If not--i would take it in to check it out. Many places--like auto zone will do free basic diagnostics. you could have a bad sensor and not see a difference in your engine now and still be doing damage by driving it. GOOD LUCK!

run a code check? I think on most dodge you cycle the ignition switch on off on off on and the light will start blinking. First long blink is the first number, then a series of flashes is the second number, then it will pause and cycle again. Then do a search on the web to find out what those codes mean.
