If you play, what's your character like? I just started last year (as a freshman in college). My character is a level 4 (almost level 5 so I can finally ride on an animal!) halfing Paladin.

Halfing Paladin? That's unusual. Cool, though.
I am playing a lawful evil grey elf wizard and I try to enslave everybody and backstab my teammates (in a fun way). I just reached level 9 and have a new staff. Yeah, I'm a geek but I enjoy every time we play.
Oh, we play a modified 3.5 with some tweaks to the basic rules.

Yes.

Currently, a lvl 11 elven War Mage (from one of the add-on books called Complete Arcane). He deals some bad-*** damage, can wear armor, but can't do much of anything else.

He scares a lot of people, though.

That's in a 3.5 game, running through the Shackled City campaign.

Been playing off and on for 20+ years...

I have two characters in two separate games at the moment. (Yes I am a world-class geek.) One is a rogue, my personal favorite class, who's pretty and she knows it, and uses it--she's basically a very smooth con artist with ridiculous charisma. The other is a paladin who spends most of his time telling various racist and off-color jokes (Ever heard the one about the human, the elf, and the gnome that walked into a bar?).

My favorite character ever was a rogue/highwayman in the Ravenloft 3.0 setting. Half-Vistani insanity, and got bitten by a werevixen...

A great place to discuss D&D and roleplaying games in general is http://www.rpg.net .

I personally don't play D&D too often buy my last character was a Xeph psiblade/rogue. It had a pretty cool mix of psychic abilities that would allow me to blind my opponents and gain as many as three extra d6 to damage them. I tend to play other games that focus less on killing things and taking their stuff, though there's nothing wrong with that kind of game if that's what you enjoy.
