G'day stel247,
Thank you for your question.
The first thing you need to decide is what you'd like to do with your life. That can help guide you towards a course of study or job that can lead you to your goal.
Many students take a gap year so that they can think more deeply about what they would like to do. The term gap year (also known as "year out", "deferring", "Overseas Experience") is a prolonged period (often, but not always, a year) between a student's completion of secondary school and matriculation in college or university, or also between college and graduate school or a profession. It is generally a practice undertaken by young people from anglophone nations with a great proportion of gap year students from one country effectively swapping with gap year students from another.
I have attached some sources for your reference.
Good luck for the future.
Regards

You know i was the same way when i graduated high school. i was actually talking about this the other day with some of my friends. You spend your entire life going to school because you have to. your parents tell you that you have to go and you do. and your whole life you feel like you can't make any choices without your parents permission, and then when they ask you to make a desion the pressure is HUGE! What do you want to do with the rest of your life? and to think just last week you had to ask permission from a teacher on weather or not you can go to the bathroom. i had what i can only describe as the deer in the headlights syndrome. i didn't know what i wanted to do with my life. what if i chose wrong? well in the end i did make a desion. i chose to go to college, but only after 4 years of not going. I start my second year this year and i feel behind. take some advise from someone who has been just as confused as you must feel now. go to college. don't worry about declairing your major right away, most people just change there minds anyway.. i would look into taking the general courses that everyone has to take and then try to make a choice. you might also go to your counsolors office, alot of times they have tests you can take that can point you in the right direction in terms of what you like to do. Good Luck!

confused about what? go to college. thats the only way youre gonna make it in this world. Take it from me...a bachelors isnt enough anymore. It is now almost (not quite) but almost equivalent to a high school degree. you must go to grad school if you plan on having a good quality of life.

It's a good time to get a part-itme job efore you start applying for college, y'know. Earn some money for yourself or you could save it for something later. Experience is also a good factor for getting a job.Exposure means you'll be less nervous the next time you're working. You don't need to go for big jobs. Start low before advancing, e.g at the supermarket or grocery store. It's your choice.

I suggest a year off, travel if you can, a working visa to another country if you dare. Take the time to get to know yourself and see the world if that is at all possible. I don't see the point in wasting money to go to college if you don't know what you want to do with your life.

Go to college and get a proper education. You can't get anywhere in life without at least a Bachelor's Degree these days.

Try to advance your education. Work can wait. For goodness sake! We have plenty of yrs ahead of us to work. So study as long as possible, tt is if your folks can afford. Once you start working, it'll be hard to carry on studying.
