Who is M.C. Higgins and do you have any summary of it?

I remember reading this quite a while ago. If I remember correctly. M.C. Higgins is a black boy around 13 or 14 who lives in a rural Southern area, placed maybe in the 60's or so, and it's just more of less sort of snapshots from his everyday life. Neat little book, if I'm remembering it correctly.
