D B J's Ratings Value for money 4/10
Overall rating 2/10
Recommended No

Good Points
Fairly reliable.

Bad Points
Shocking economy.

General Comments
The Mitsubishi Canter has probably the worst fuel economy of any truck of this size. Poor dealer network. The dealership that sold me my Canter cannot or will not rectify the fuel problem. It's got a three year warranty great but they had my vehicle for weeks and just made it worst, then I had to send it back and they only put it back to how it was. Still only 11-12 to the gallon driven carefully. Pretty boring cab. Very good on tyres though.

Review of Mitsubishi CanterPrevious
Review 2 of 2
By himbafer from UK on 26th Sep 2004

himbafer's Ratings Year Manufactured 2002
Length of ownership 2 Years
Performance 7/10
Practicality 9/10
Reliability 9/10
Value for money 9/10
Overall rating 7/10
Recommended Yes

Good Points
Very economical.
Great turning circle.
Roomy cab.
Reliable.
great loadlugger
Very light on tyres and brakes
Excellent value for money

Bad Points
Very bouncy ride when empty.
Brakes lock too easily and no ABS option.
Too easy to induce wheelspin and no UK option for limited slip differential.
No airbag option.
Unusual tyre size restricts replacement tyre options.
Part prices are horrendous - our local Mercedes agent always apologises for the amount they cost, and there is not even the saving grace of good availability.

General Comments
We would buy the Mitsubishi Canter again if mitsubishi - Mercedes updated the truck, offering airbags, ABS, LSD and even 4x4 which is offered in some worldwide markets.
Mercedes have not really got serious about marketing and supporting the Canter; you feel a bit of a poor relation on service visits even though the work is carried out ok.
