Waking up along side the highway, in the middle of the weeds, after a drunk driver crossed over and hit me head on.

The real event was the the ambulance, tow-truck and 2 county deputy cars were pulling away, apparently did not account for me.

I walked approximately 2 miles to a pay phone, called for help.

Been a paramedic for 13 years now. I account for everyone at every scene, real stickler for that.

I never assume anything

When I had a stent put in an artery in the heart and things did not go right. The doctor stopped the procedure because i had a real hard time breathing and could not turn my head. He told me it this does not stop he was pushing me through the doors of the room to the operating room on the other side of the doors for Open heart surgery. that changed everything. I do not take for granted anything anymore and appreciate each day to the highest.

I was in a terrible car accident, spent 8 months in the hospital and almost died...that one event changed my life drastically. I realized how important the little things are, how important every day is, how much I loved my family, etc. It took me a couple of years but I also realized that I'm here for a reason.

Its kind of a long story but I will try to make it short. I was cornered by a violent person and had no way out. He was physically threatening a co-worker. Something in me snapped and I went for his throat. Three people had to pull me off him. I truly believe I would have killed him. I am a female and not at all a violent person. I surprised and frightened myself so much I shut myself in a walk-in refrigerator and burst into tears. I believe I will always have that potential in me but will have to be in a similar situation before it comes out.
