Yeah, I do it all the time. I don't open my eyes much when I do. The chlorine can't be good for them though and you should clean them as soon as you get back home.
If you lose one, well you are out of luck because you will NEVER find it.
I swim in salt water too and it doesn't feel good so I wear goggles just in case.

It is OK to wear contact lenses while swimming. I hope your doctor would not have listed in do'd or don't'd

Googles are genuinely needed in case you opt to swim with touch lenses and notice the place you're heading. i understand of a guy who swims together with his eyes closed : ( for worry of dropping his touch lenses.

yes, i do it, but not a good habit, i need to because i play water polo, and im blind without them, your really dont lose them as easily as everyone says, ive only lost 3 or 4 in 4 years of swimming and playing water polo with them, i dont recommend it though as the lenses actually absorb some of the chlorine, so it can irritate your eyes until you throw that pair out... i live my life at the pool as i swim play water polo and lifeguard

it is okay to wear contacts in the pool, but you might want to wear goggles because there is no water getting to your eyes, but if you cannot find decent goggles that don't leak, then you should just make sure that you keep your eyes closed, and try not to open them or rub your eyes too much while your hands are wet because they seem to move, and sometimes stick to your hands.

Well my eye doctor said not to. Its ok if you keep your eyes closed, but there is a chance they will fall out and you'll never be able to find them if you keep your eyes open. I would suggest goggles.

You'll probably lose them. And if not, if you're swimming in a pool, the chlorine couldn't be very good for them.

you can if you wear goggles at all times and you don't open your eyes with out goggles because chlorine is a disinfectent and with all disinfectents it has isiphil in it that makes things dry up...so if you don't mind loosing them and you wear goggles at all times yes you can wear them
