I would prefer not to have to go buy a chemical, and I do not consider scraping at it with a razor easy, plus that might damage the paint, or in my case scratch the glass. In my case the sticker is on the rear glass window of my truck.

use a single edge razor blade It is unlikely that you will scratch the glass ps don't use a hammer

If it is on the paint peal off all that you can then use vinegar to soak the area do this for about thirty minutes keeping the area wet rinse with water a couple of times then rub with rough cloth ( hand towels are great)
this should remone 99% of the sticker
Then wash with soapy water to remove the rest.
then never never put a bumber sticker on paint again.
glass and chrome are a slick surface where removal is easy (time consuming but easy)
paint on the other hand is a pitted surface and the glue is hard to remove
Waxing the car finish helps to smooth out the paint but will not completely smooth out the surface of paint

Try Un-Do it is very similar to GooGone but not as harsh. It is sold by scrapbooking items, for removing photos/stickers from scrapbooks. I have personally used it on my back car windows to remove stickers. It has a nifty little tool that helps get the liquid where you want it, as well as help get the sticker up. Just keep paper towels handy if it starts to run towards the paint. My daughter did get some on her paint, but she just sprayed the spot with water immediately and no problems. Unlike GooGone, it doesn't leave it with an oily residue.

Hair dryer works well, as does WD-40. Be very careful with Goo Gone, lacquer thinner, acetone or other powerful solvents. They will remove any wax, and may be harmful to the paint on painted surfaces. If you use a hair dryer, "low" will likely not be hot enough. "High" can be too hot if left directed at one area for too long. Use no more heat than is required to loosen the adhesive on the sticker.

WD 40 will take off stickers without any damage to your paint. Plastic or not.I've used it many times even on small plastic bottles that I wanted to remove stickers from.Just spray it on wait just a little while, then use your finger nail to scrape it off.You may need to spray a little more on while your scraping off. When your done you can use a mild soap and water to finish the clean up.

you could try saturating it with WD40, if its not a plastic coated sticker, the WD should soak through, and the qlue should peel right off, you may need a few applications for full effect, for easier cleanup, put some bunched up paper towels below the sticker to absorb the drips, otherwise you'll have a real shiny part of your car that gets dirty really easy

Hair dryer and wd-40 for whats left. A heat gun may get too hot and could possibly cause a crack in the glass. Heat it slowly with a hair dryer set on high and peel it off., anything left, use the wd-40 to remove and then windex it.

goo be gone (find it in craft area of Wally World) works but you need patience and I am not sure about painted surfaces. id try steam first if you can get a steam sprayer. being a little OCD myself (is that an oxymoron?) id have a cool new bumper sticker ready in case you do scratch something (but it wil always be there!)

Sponge it down with very hot water to loosen the glue. Once the sticker is removed, the glue that is remaining is easier to get off.
