I have a STX factor that i've had for 3 years and im getting tired of it, but i'm not sure if i'm ready for a new one. it's not broken or anything, but when do ground balls and i'm running, it tends to fall out from the side because the frame is low. i also dont get a good response of when i throw, and when i catch long distance throws, the stick doesnt absorb the shock very well. even though i give with the stick, and start cradling, the ball falls out. its not like im bad or anything. not to show off i was team captain for varsity in the past year and probably for this year too. thanks. :)

I played lacrosse for 3 years in college and 7 years before that.
Let me start out by suggesting that you and everyone should change your string job about once every season. There is plenty of practice time before you start the season's first game to break in a new string job. Also, alternate sticks. Have a backup stick that you are accustomed to. Use it at practice about once a week. Feel comfortable with both sticks. In a game you never know what might happen to your #1 billy berut. I've had a fat attackman fall on my most favorite titanium defense shaft ever and bent it all to hell. I ran to the sideline for my backup and I hated it b/c I had never practiced with it. The strings we'rent what I was used to. From that moment on I started using my backup sticks more often in practice to ensure that situation never repeated itself.

It really just sounds like a new string job is your best bet. String it up before fall ball, break it in during fall, use it the first few weeks of 07' practices and you'll have it ready for the 07' Season's first game.

If you don't know how to string a stick, you should learn. It's alot of fun, and saves quite a bit of money in the long run. Your plastic head should stay in tact for quite a while; so long as you know how to store it correctly. In the winter, you can store it in your bathroom as long as it doesnt get too cold in there. When you take a shower, the steam keeps the plastic pretty moist and won't dry it out. In the summer, keep your stick inside your house, not your car, since plastic has a tendancy to melt when exposed to extreme temperatures.

thanks for listening

i'd say get a new head for the stick because its cheaper than buying a whole new one, and the problem seems to be with the head. i buy a new stick every two years even if its still decent just to make sure its the best

it might not the the head of the stick, it sounds like its the strings, your pocket probably needs to be either loosened or re-strung so the pocket sits better, making it harder for the ball to fall out when you're cradling.
