It is very likely that your old boxspring has worn your new mattress out faster than it should have. When buying a new mattress, you should Always buy the matching boxspring. They are engineered to work together to last for many years of comfortable sleep.

If your old box spring is still in good condition, it's ok to use it. But if it's already demage, change it. A demage box spring can't hold a good mattress well, it will cause it to sag and become soft. By the way, do you find that your mattress too soft or too firm to sleep on?? If too soft, your spring box could be the reason. If too firm, maybe you can get yourself a fiber-filled topper to place on top of your mattress. In this way, you might feel more comfortable and the topper will give you a body-hugging feeling...

Yes, you guessed it, to solve your dilemma, place a full sheet of Plywood or MDF, between the Mattress and Box Spring.
