Well you may want to ask this question to the people of the US embassy that were held captive in Iran that Canadians got home, or the planes that were landed full of people and people kept and fed until it was safe to go home on 9/11, or the the three years they fought in World War II before the US joined in, or the world wide respected Peace Keeping forces that actually do try to keep the peace and don't carry guns to do it, and oh yeah, are your #1 provider of oil and numerous other resources. Oh by the way, Canada most definitely IS a country.
Oh and overseas people ask if Canadians are from the US because of the accents, not because they are ignorant of geography. Also, more and more Americans are wearing Canadian flags on their clothing when they travel as protection (which, by the way Canadians would rather you didn't unless you treat people with respect). Canada is a Commonwealth country, and shares the same Queen as England and Australia.

Well lets see we did burn down the white house once. Created the United Nations (our idea), Invented Basketball, and currently have the tallest freestanding building in the world, and oh yes when we travel we don't get spit on.....so I would say YES...oh yes and we will let the American protect us at their financial cost so we can keep enjoying our free health care. We will never be invaded and don't really need an army because anyone who attacks us will be too close for america's comfort and it won't cost a soldiers life or a dime. Now thats smart!!

Since Canada's military is dwarfed by the US it is easy to forget that Canada is one of the founding members of NATO and has the eighth largest economy in the world (measured in US dollars at market exchange rates). The seven largest economies are US, Japan, Germany, the UK, France, Italy and China.
Canada has 2,300 soldiers in Afganistan, sent soldiers to Korea during the Korean war and fought Germany in WWII.

I am a proud canadian. One of my contributions to the world was the death of my Father, two uncles and a cousin in WWII. Your mentality (whiteboyasia) suggests to me that you probably think we are all Eskimos or Frenchmen up here. Do you know the difference between British Columbia, Ontario or Quebec? Why don't you come up here and get an education.

It is funny that many Europeans say the Americans are ignorant yet I have met Europeans who thought that Canada was pat of the USA. That shows that 1) Ignorance comes in all nationalities
2) Canada is not that important otherwise people from overseas would know better than to think it is part of the USA.

Wait a couple of years and they'll be building a fence to keep
U.S. immigrants out. They have a whole lotta natural resources. And if this globe really starts cooking ,that might be a place to have real estate in.BTW they have larger oil reserves than Saudi Arabia.

Cant expect much from a country that gave us Brian Adams....
Canada has contributed nothing aside from aiding terrorists. Half of the genius liberals on here are Canadians. They forget that they are parasitic to the United States. I was against NAFTA before it was signed and Im still against it. Canada envisions themselves as a world player but in truth, nobody cares about Kanuks. I laugh at them when they start bragging about their Government. Ask them how much tax they are paying....

Cheap lumber. They also make some pretty good industrial machinery, and components for the same.
Otherwise they are weak and irrelevant. The only strong thing they've ever done was repell a U.S. invasion during the war of 1812.
