hostility? From what I've heard they want us to cut down on gas consumption, reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and plant more trees. Who is that going to hurt? Even president Bush said we are oil addicts. (Maybe he meant that as a compliment?) So what's wrong with humoring the whackos if the worst side effect is that the air is going to smell better?

Because thats not the worst side effect. The real cost of the Green machine are not calculated or even seen. Every summer gas prices shoot up because of ridiculous EPA regulations inacted to appease the tree huggers.

Unnecessary regulation is a drag on the economy. That doesn't sound like a big deal. But, when the economy is dragged down by regulation it pushes more people below the proverty line. It is well documented that people living at that level don't live as long. So every regulation that even slightly slows the economy pushes someone into proverty and shortens their life. Which is like killing hundreds or thousands of people.

Why do tree huggers care so little for their fellow humans.

It's because those people forced the gasoline composition in the State of California to be so specialized it is not made anywhere else, therefore when there's a refinery accident the price of gas shoots up 35 cents; and it's because those same people also tell you to ride a bike across bridges in the course of your 45 mile commute (sure - that's SOOOO practical) ; and finally it's because those same people have brainwashed the public into thinking that nuclear power is too dirty to use - so the only alternative is to keep burning coal which is the dirtiest fuel know to man and creates most of the greenhouse effect in the first place. Can't have it both ways. That's why peole don't like extreme greens - because they never thought this thing out thoroughly. And that doesn't even mention the decision to save one spotted petunia instead of helping your fellow human save a couple of cents in gasoline by allowing that spotted petunia to have a "habitat" so no drilling can take place. That's the hell why. Get it now?

You are right on the ball. The American people are oil addicts. They spent Billions of dollars drilling anywhere possible, like Alaska, Texas you name it. There is no such thing as global warming, because there is no scientifically proof. People are not educated enough that's it. Very good question.

People don't want to give up their big cars and hair spray even though it might kill their grand children.
