Actually if u don't have a virus guard it is actually very difficult to find whether ur computer is infected or not, and u will only come to know of it only after ur comp gets destroyed(mainly the processor).
The various symptoms are ur comp gets slower even if u have a high end processor and it will start showing various errors that will normally do not occur.
Among them worms are deadly the can completely destroy ur processors, drives, RAM, motherboard, chip-sets etc, to scrap quality while others can only destroy ur soft-wares.

Sometimes you can't even tell you have a virus! That's part of the problem. But other signs include the following:

* system reboots? - Does your system spontaneously restart? This could be a virus or, if could be a legitimate problem with other hardware or software. That is one of the tricks of viruses. Sometimes they mimic 'normal' system problems therefore leaving the user unware of the problem.

* system slowdowns? - Has your system mysterious begun to get slower and slower as time passes? You might have a virus? or maybe not? It can't hurt to check!

* computer will not boot (start)? - You might have a virus. Try starting in Safe Mode (press the F8 key when booting), if you can boot all might not be lost. There is more to it then mentioned here but, search our resources page for more help on how to repair your own computer for free.

* see strange messages appearing when you turn on your computer? - I don't mean strange system generated messages, they have their own level of strangeness, I mean something that seems out of place - something not quite right.

* files disappearing? - Was there a program, or file on your computer one day but not there the next and you are the only user? You might have a virus. Visit our free repair tools section to download antivirus software.

There can be different signs but your computer may be running really slow, turning itself on/off or going to places you didn't choose.

The first thing you should do is run a virus scan, but there are some that a anti-virus software doesn't find and worse case scenario is having to take it to a PC shop to be fixed.

It's best to take precautions to prevent viruses then try to deal with them once you get them.

The main hint is that your computer will keep hanging, as in you will either have to restart or shut it down as nothing will function.
And ya it will become relatively slow.
Best thin to do is to run a virus check, to be on the safer side and espl if you have been downloading a lot of attachments. That where the virus find there way in.

When you go to your homesite, it is different from the one you originally programmed, usually involving anti-virus software. For example, if you set your home to be yahoo.com, you would expect to see yahoo.com when you click home on your browser. However, when you have a virus, the Norton website (or another anti-virus software company's website) would show up offering free virus screenings and trial software 2 clean it up.

This happened to me twice and i had do system recovery both times. Knew it had 2 a virus b/c my friends warned me about links with viruses and not 2 click them... u can figure out what happened after that.

You also have to be careful because some of them may not show "symptoms" for awhile. Your best bet is to get AntiVirus software and a Firewall. I know ZoneAlarm is a free firewall you can download (I used to have that). There are also some free online scanning sites that checks your computer as well. Norton has a free online scanning system where it checks your Security as well as your entire computer for viruses. However, again, it is highly recommended that you install AntiVirus and a firewall on your computer.

hi, that maybe a virus, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

The worst ones will do their nastiness undetected until it's too late. If you're surfing and don't have anti-virus and firewall protection, and you're still using MSIE to surf the net, you need to make some changes - especially if you are on an "always on" internet connection.
