Out of curiousity. I've seen a few people refer to it when they answer questions.

Okay, but both answers I've gotten don't really answer my question. I'd like to know: What is lulu.com, what do people like about it and why do people like it?

So far, all I've gotten from what I've seen is that you can self-publish there (which I have a tendency to dislike).

lulu.com a a self-publishers, (a great one, in my opinion). They charge no fee, no money or anything. You just upload your project, they make it a book, and put it up on a storefront they give you. Then you can buy a copy, or as many as you want. They don't send you a free copy, as you have paid no money whatsoever to publish your book. You keep all the copyrights to your book, and you also set how many royalties you want out of each copy of your book sold. Whatever you set your royalties as, lulu add on 25% and then they get a commission of 20% of your book money, as an example, if you priced your book a 4 dollars, lulu would make the price 5 dollars, and then keep one dollar of that (so you still get the 4 dollars you set). You can then choose whether your book is available for download, printed copy, or both. They print books in black and white or color, softback or hardback, and in a variety of sizes. They also publish cd's, photo books, calendars and other things. Hope this information is helpful, and makes you think slightly better of self-publishers.
Cheers, Deanna (a very happy and proud user of lulu.com)

Basically it's just a self-publishing site, one of the bigger ones and, from what I've heard, one of the more accessible and cheaper. I think it may be one of the few sites where you more or less send your book and your money, sit back, and they do all your work for you.

(I'm with you on the self-publishing, though. Ugh.)

The only thing that could make it worse would be the screeching Scots singer of the same name. Aargh!!!!
