Yes I did. I was WAY in the back woods of Northern California, got lost when trying to find a place that raised parrots (I was looking to work there for the Summer)

...went up to a house for directions which turned out to be a place where they were growing pot.

The place was obviously booby-trapped, because as I got out of my car, about seven people appeared on a ridge above and behind me, and a guy with a knife in his hand, blade about 7 plus inches (not kidding), asked what I was doing.

I just kept my cool, explained to him that I was lost, showed him my map, and he gave me directions.

I had to really focus on keeping my cool !! It hit me later just how dangerous the situation actually was!

WHEW!!

A great many people do and some of them actually realize it. I've happened on circumstances that aren't all that right but the response has to depend on what can be done. Not what you would like to do but what you can do with a Chance of surviving in reasonable condition as well as succeeding. I captured a robber under conditions that left me with almost broken ribs due to acting according to half remembered training and without thinking for a moment. A painful lesson. But if someone is using drugs at a bus stop what are you going to do? If they can respond will the police be able to get there in time? If you try to handle it what will the subject do? Will he do it TO you? Sometimes you can't do anything to help. The only people who haven't been in the situation are those who aren't paying attention to the world around them.

A few years ago I was out with a group of friends and one of them said he'd left something back at his house. (A little background: at the time, I was a dispatcher at the local sheriff's department and was engaged to a deputy, which all of my friends knew.) So, I offered to take my friend over to his house & back. When we got there, he takes out a little packet of cocaine from a drawer and starts lining it out on the table. I said, "Uhhhh....George...." (Not his real name.) He gave me this startled look like he suddenly remembered who he was with and put it away. So I guess I didn't really stumble into it; I drove myself over there. Kinda funny now.

When I was in h.s., a friend took me to someones condo (I didn't know). When we walked in, it was dark and there were a lot of people on the floors doing drugs. I nearly fainted! I told my friend I wanted to get out and I was leaving. I will never forget that, bad situation. And I did chew my friend out too!

If anyone claims not to have stumbled across something, they live a sheltered life!
