How much excessive fluid? What does the doctor plan on doing to follow this up? He should at least check the amount of fluid next time you go in. It may resolve itself by then. If not he should be looking at causes. Depending on how much excess fluid you have you may insist on further testing now.
I found an informative web site. Hope this helps.

Too much is not always a bad thing.
No one knew that my 7th child had the cord wrapped around her neck twice.
They told me that had I not had so much fluid, she would have strangled. The extra fluid actually cushions the baby from the cord. No one knew this was happening, no one could see her very well in the ultrasounds as her sack was located ontop her belly.
We all considered the extra fluid a blessing!

Too much fluid could mean that the baby has a problem swallowing. Doctors really need to explain when they think there may be a problem. Call them and ask them.

No, your labor will not be easier with polyhydramnios. Just messier for a time. There can be complications in a small percentage. You doctor will monitor you .
Sometimes they diagnose polyhydramnios and there ends up not being excessive fluid.
