Always hated that silly expression. I never had a box in the first place, so I guess I have always thought "outside the box." Whoever made up that expression deserves a blanket party with aluminum bats (dink!!, dink !!, dink!!).
Original thought and good ideas stand on their merits (no box needed as a reference point).

The box is comfortable and safe. Anything outside the box is foreign, and suspicious, and potentially dangerous.

I think people get comfortable with their lives and sometimes
it is scary and uncomfortable to consider things outside of that.
That's why education is so important.

because they don't want too... they are, at their core, lazy and apathetic...
