i am having a thought that is horrid and i don't want to think it any more.
but i keep obsessing over it and the more i seem to obsess over it the more used to the thought i become.
im in a really bad cycle can anyone tell me what i can do to become un used to this thought again?

Positive re enforcement. Surround yourself with loving, caring, grand mom kind of figures. Ones that make you feel safe and wanted. Stay away from overly influential friends. Don't do anything hasty. No alone time right now. When things aren't as they should be you should never allow yourself time alone. We all know that can only complicate things more. Have something playing constantly in the background so not to zone out on that thought like something happy,.....older television shows,... Bewitched,...Cosby show,.....Brady bunch,....Fresh Prince of Belair,.........innocent happy things. Seek help from someone that specializes in that field. Sometimes our minds play tricks on us & we feel weaker than we are. Therefore bad thoughts invade our daily mental space. Don't allow for any free space right now. Keep busy. Know that YOU can overcome anything!! I can feel it!!!

I have had the same problem. And ive never really been able to get rid of it. Well sort of but its still there and now all it does is come up periodically and in a different scenerio. I too think I obsess a little over it sometimes but i cant help it.
It depends on the thought and how strong you are mentally and emotionally. Ill watch this to see if you get any helpful answers I can try too.

Write the thought down, Hold it in your hand and then when you are ready, rip it up. Rip it up into many pieces and then either flush it down the toilet or burn it. Do something that will destroy it beyond repair. Then think of something really nice and do something to make that thing happen. Maybe, it could be for somebody else. Best of luck to you - I have been there and this is a really hard thing to do.
