No I have never taken a human life. I would, however, if I was forced to do so.
War is not pretty. From your icon, I assume you believe in lasting world peace.
I am concerned with the way you asked your question, because I have many friends who have taken a human life. It does suck (according to them). I am certain that you won't get many poeple (who really have taken a human life) to respond.
The battlefield is not a pretty place. Military service is an honorable career. Unfortunately, military service comes with the guarantee you will be called upon to serve on the battlefield in the event of a war.
Like it or not, war is a necessary evil. Without war, there would still be African American slaves in the American continent. Without war, Hitler would have succesfully commited genocide. War sucks, and I agree with you.

i could on condition that I had no different determination, for self protection purposes. in all risk if the guy has commited a terrible crime to somebody <- regrettably particular the death penalty might nicely be each and every each and every now and then justified. i think of all newborn harmers,rapists, and murderors might desire to be sentenced to existence ideally or death penalty. it rather is unhappy we live in this form of world with all this dirt and sin. Yes, in self defense. 2 Guys came in to rob me at work with guns and I shot them both, killing one. I would do it again if I had to. I have a concealed handgun license and I carry a gun everyday
