Lord of the Rings. It was much deeper than Harry Potter. There is backstory and family histories and legends and lore....Lord of the Rings is a fully developed world, while J.K. Rowling has only written about parts of the Harry Potter world. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but compared to Lord of the Rings, it isn't as in-depth.

lord of the rings owns harry potter, for 1: harry potter is always the winner no matter what the situation is, in volumes 1-4 of the harry potter chronicles harry can do no wrong , in lord of the rings there are a variety of ppl that help the situation, sam for example was the one who took control , if you think about it , frodo could not of survived through several scenes without sam, where as jumping back to harry potter his friends only solve one or two puzzles per the entire movie, in lord of the rings each character plays a role that leads them to their own divine distinction, in harry potter , you are left thinking about harry no matter how the movie ends, for he is the only one that truly ever makes the final triumph. As for Lord of the Rings all the characters distribute equal efforts to get to the end of the journey.

From the movies I like Harry Potter & the prisnor of Askaban & HP & the Goblet of fire... but the first 2 movies for hp were not that great...... But the Lord of the Rings.. All 3 was soooooo hot & exiting........!!!!!!!!!

Potter is a nice childrens film. but the LOTR films are better films. The LOTR films appeal to a MUCH greater audience than do the Potter films. Both films are filled with exellent actors, but LOTR has the edge in superior director and writing.

I apologize if this hurts anyones feelings, but Harry Potter is a Cartoon WHEN COMPARED to LOTR. Lotrs culture and epic quality is unparelleled. If cannot even be compared to Harry Potter.
