rubgy is tougher and takes much better conditioning to play...football takes strength and speed, but players get a rest every 5-10 seconds...rugby is continual 45 minute halves with no time outs and very few stoppages of play...the players are constantly taking/giving hits without pads, but also expending large amounts of energy just to keep up with the flow of the game.

Tougher players: Football they're enormous and concussions are regular even with equipment and some players still play through injuries Which sport has stronger players? Obviously American football Is the ball of the exact same shape and size? From what I heard no Exciting: American Football by far I've only seen rugby a couple of times and American football was alot more exciting

Rugby players can only hit as hard as their body can take the compression upon impact...football players hit 5 times harder and survive.
Rugby players spend a lot of rest time in a scrum just pushing
- football players do all of that at half time.
Rugby players hate the sound of impact and don't run as well with all of that extra weight.
Football lasts longer
Football is the tougher sport.

I think tougher, as in who i would least like to pick a fight with at a bar? A rugby player.
Those guys take knocks with no pads that would knock out most other atheletes.

rugby, football is tough too,but RUGBY! well it depends by tougher u mean harder, then they are probibly equal, but if u mean which one u get more beat up in rugby!

by far American football, because you got men that are very stronger than the rugby players.
