ya u can do this just log in to the the latest version of yahoo messenger. Now just click u avatar image and then go to SET MY AVATAR MOOD and select which one u want ok
and also tick the SET THIS QUESTION TO MY MESSENGER STATUS box when u r asking question

You just change the facial moods on your avatar page and click save. But it seems like a lot of trouble for every question but It would be cute!

If you are speaking of Yahoo Answers' avatar, all you need to do is go http://avatars.yahoo.com and follow the instructions from there, and you will get to change the avatar's mood!!!
In other words, just look above the big picture of your avatar and you will some small face, click the one you want and your avatar will change and then you can choose save changes and you will get it to change the avatar's mood!!!
