As nice as this thought is the truth is we were united by a sense of humanity and the thought that a tragedy is something, of course, terrible. Yet what has separated us now is that the facts surrounding that day and the the days after have been built on lies. What we should not forget is the "Checks & Balances" set up by the founding fathers of this great country and we should most definitely not forget the amazing document they gave us (The Constitution) as a means to unite the goals of this country. American citizens are learning more and more about the lies provided by this administration with the help of congressmen and senators and aided by the corporate media to help escalate the militarization of this government. Issues that great presidents like Washington and Einsenhower warned us about. I remember 9/12.....but most impotantly I remember that all war is based on deception....of the American public.

Seriously, if you take any subject (any subject at all) and poll 100
Republicans (conservatives) and 100 Democrats (liberals) you are going to find that some in each group are in agreement with each other..
This divide between Republicans and Democrats or Liberals and Conservatives is just plains ludicrous ... no two people hold the same exact views on 100 percent of all the topics, all the time.
Stop the name calling, baiting and hatred. Remember 9/11 & 9/12.

Normally the loudest idiots get the most attention. The media loves it because it brings in that advertising dollar! We tolerate because most of us don't bother with relatively unimportant things like that. Paying the mortgage or rent is more important. Do you remember how quickly Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell shut up about America deserving this for their sins. Enough people got on the same wavelength and told them to quit spoonfeeding us their normal ****. Only an idiot would think anybody deserved something like this. It was a big enough event for people to look up from their bills and get angry enough to do something. Most people inhabiting the 24 hour news channels don't really live in the real world anyway. i think sometimes the people who don't watch the news and don't worry about all this have the right idea. Republicans or Democrats don't have any of the answers. It is up to you to tend your own garden and help those closest to you. Most of the other stuff isn't really that important.

I love you.
Funny you should mention this. At my college, all of the photojournalists from the New York Times have set up their pictures and stories from 9/11, and seeing them really will put your life into perspective.
It's funny how we worry about such trivial things. We take so much for granted. I feel so ashamed, especially after seeing the picture of the burning towers with people clinging to the outside of the building.
Put yourself into their shoes. I need to do the same.
Some of us will be mourning the loss of family members on 9/11, some of us will take a moment of silence. Some of us will be arguing with our hair straightener because it won't work.
I don't want to fall into that last category. I'm sure you don't either.

I'll tell you what though, thats a real sweet idea and all, but come on, you have soo many corrupt officials in office you have no clue of whats really going on. Everyone is so concerned about the press and the media to think about everything. If you take the media out of the picture it would be alot clearer. When was the last time you heard of someone saving so many lives in the media? Nah they are to good for that, the wanna hear all about the blowing of **** up and the dead soldiers!?

I agree with you,, but when you love your country and you see things deteriorating every day in Iraq,, troops dying and the killing of thousands of innocent Iraqi's more than 300 since Sunday,, and the message the Bush team is sending is dreadful, and harmful to American citizens who actually believe what he is saying,,, instilling fear,, comparing his invasion of Iraq to Nazi Germany,, and WW11,,, my god,, the US had 99% support for FDR ,, the US fought against, Germany, Italy and Japan,, three countries,,, Bush is fighting radical Islamic organizations,,,, his language is insulting to the veterans of WW1 and WW11 and not appropriate, Rumsfeld and Cheney are feeding fear to the American people,,, so wrong,,, our government is Fascist Neo-conservatism,, what else would you call it,,,,

In a perfect world all of us could just get along. Unfortunately this is not a perfect world. Different opinions is what makes us individuals. If we didn't have different opinions, this would be a Communistic nation. But, I understand where you're coming from.

I agree... Thank you for understanding this. There are idiots on both sides but there are geniuses too. I think that only through talking about these things and not just insulting we can make this country truly great.

You're trying to use logic and reason. You're trying to get people to see past arbitrary labels and deal with others and individuals. And you're trying to get people to be rational, and let go of hatred.
Noble ideas. But I've almost reached the point where I've written off the human race as not salvageable.
I was in northern New Jersey starting on 9/12, within line of sight of where the towers used to stand. One day, while I was at the gym, two guys walked up to me. Now, I used to have long hair, and after a shower would wrap it in a towel to dry.
These two guys walked up behind me. One commented that "up towel heads better get out of their country". The other suggested I might not make it as far as the parking lot. There was raw hatred and more than a hint of violence in their voice.
They seemed very surprised when I turned around, and they realized I wasn't arabic. They just turned and walked away. It was the first time I had experienced that type of raw hatred and racist bigotry firsthand.
We weren't united as a people or as a nation that day. We had just chosen someone else to hold as the greater enemy.
