Most humiliation would not be legal and would not pass the policies of any worthwhile company.
Humiliation causes a hostile work environment, which is not allowed in any but Ma and Pa, backwards business (not to be confused with decent Ma and Pa businesses).
Also, humiliation is often based on one of the legally protected human traits -- gender, age, race, creed, national origin, sexual preference, religion....
Such humiliation is certainly not legal.
Only one type of humiliation that I can think of would be legal, but certainly not good business, and that is putting down an employee in front of others. That is just poor management. Any dressing down should be done in private, or with only an HR representative or other manager in attendance as a buffer.
In any case, any humiliation is immoral and unjust, legal or not, and does not have anything to do with running the business the way it should be run.

You don't give enough information. In 1984 when I was working at a college I had an employee get sick when I told her to get out she was fired.....for stealing. I'm sure she was humiliated but frankly I didn't ( and don't now) care

It may not be illegal but it's certainly improper to humiliate anyone to the point of illness, especially if it is in front of the other employees. If I were you, I'd look for another job.

not if you are workin in private sector my friend......and i m sure no employee can be that fragile and sentimental so as to fall that seroiusly ill with simply a telling off..........any employer has the right to scolding his employees, after all he has more to lose than his employees if he has to face huge losses.......rather i will say that the employee seems to be in the wrong profession and the employer must have had his own good reason 4 it all.....try to understand my point....it'll help a lot.
