The Dsm the statistical manual that mental health proffesionals use called it a mental illness until 1973. Why did it change? I do not understand how therapy is anti gay? Are those who went to reperative therapy and claim to have changed wrong?

Are those who went to reperative therapy and claim to have changed wrong? Isnt there no proof positive that it is learned or genetic? Isnt the jury still out?Why is it such a hot button for some to even ask the question?

You are basing the reversal of a sex change as being a mistake... in that situation, if a person did want it reversed, I guess it would be.

As far as being gay being a mental illness. You seem to have some documentation so you should see the answer right there...

To answer the 2nd part of your question:
Being gay does not require or need reparitive therapy simply because it is not a disorder to be reversed nor can it be reversed.

It's the cutting edge, because they cut out any research or studies that contradict their conclusions.

Anyone can be conditioned to any behavior, regardless of their natural tendencies or orientations. That's been known for centuries. People born left-handed can be made to function right-handed, by repeatedly denying them use of their left hand.

This group rejects the idea that homosexuality can be genetic in anyone. It assumes that everyone who is homosexual becomes that way through learned behavior and/or conscious choice, and that through conditioning this behavior can be 'corrected' or 'altered'.

Anyone can be brainwashed or conditioned to change their behavior, regardless of their core beliefs or genetic structure. That doesn't prove anything.

{EDIT} The DSM has gone through three complete revisions and rewrites since 1973, with hundreds of significant changes as our understanding of human psychology and genetics have increased.

Therapy automatically assumes that something is wrong or undesirable. And starting with that assumption is a great way to justify brainwashing and behavioral modification.

It's becomes a hot-button issue when it is used as a justification to deny people rights, or when 'treatment' is suggested in place of tolerance.

If someone wants to be re-programed and reconditioned, that's their choice. But people should recognize the process for what it is.

It's important for anti-gays to 'prove' that gayness is solely a choice and not inborn. If it's inborn, then they are more likely to have Constitutional protections for being gay (than if it is merely a choice).

Over 99 % of those who try this revert back to homosexuality. This is not effective, to be honest it is an absolute joke. They have been trying this for years.... My god they need to give it up already
