Why are teenage girls so insecure about their weight? I hate it when young girls worry so much. These so-called celebrities and models don't help any. It just makes me sad. I have 2 teenage daughters and I am trying so hard to make them feel good about who they are. These girls need to understand that what is an ideal weight for one girl is not for everyone.

I agree that media and peer pressure is not helping these girls. They want so much to be liked, to be popular. And these beautiful girls and women on the television are their idols.

I was never the 'popular' girl, so looking like a stick was never important to me. But I've seen what you describe. It's past time for parents to take back control, teach these girls how to keep themselves healthy, and teach them how to be happy.

It's the media and peer pressure, don't you think? I worry about the same issues. But it just gets worse. TV and movies. And now we are hearing the the cameras are actually taking 20 pounds off the pictures we see of stars (such as Katie Couric). I wish I had an answer. I guess this is just saying, I have the same problems.
