If you are overweight to begin with, you will have some of the symptoms, such as fetal movements later than most. There are layers of fat that get in the way.

Some of the answers you have received are meant to be mean and some are from "skinny" people that just don't know what its like to be big. I can't tell your body shape from your post, but listen to my story, maybe it will help....
I started out at 290 with a big belly. This is my 3rd pregnancy and it has been the most enjoyable one yet (9 yr old daughter and had a miscarriage last year)...I felt this baby move at 12 weeks (felt like a spider crawling inside me), I didn't have very much nausea this time, my BP is better than the other 2, I have been sooooo happy- to be pregnant and to watch my body changing. The hardest part was as my belly grew, I could see people looking at me "deciding" if I was preg or just fat. I showed them! I made a t shirt that says "Actually I am fat AND pregnant...thanks for staring."
As for my belly "getting hard"...my husband, every night after finding out we were expecting, would put his hand above my pubic area (kinda under my "fat belly"). He noticed a difference at about 10weeks (remember this is my 3rd pregnancy and my uterus is stretching faster than when it did with #1). As my uterus grew, the hard part went higher up my "fat belly". Now at 35 weeks and 324#, my "fat belly" hangs kinda low, I am carrying my baby very low as well, I obviously look pregnant now as the top of my uterus is VERY hard and round.
I guess what I am saying is that there are many factors in each and every pregnancy for each person...NOT just size of mom.

Every woman is different, i was 170 pre preg not overweight i wore a size 11 ( the juniors section) and w/ both pgs my stomach got hard around 6mos. dont worry about it, what you experience may be difffernt due to the body type and family history. w/ the 1st pg i felt movement around 4 mos w/ #2 i didnt feel anything til about 6 mos
dont worry about how by the book things "should" be just enjoy your new baby but if you have serious concerns ask your dr.

When your heavier, your stomach really has to be streched out to pull the fatty tissue thin. I had the same thing. My stomach didn't get hard till 4.5- 5 months along. When I layed in the bathtub (luke warm) on my belly (lightly floating) I could feel a hard ball, about the size of a grapefruit. It was totally wierd. Try that, you should be able to feel it. Don't worry, soon enough your REALLY gonna feel it & be begging for your due date to get here quickly !!!

Your stomach should not be hard yet. Your baby is tiny and your uterus is barely peeking above your pubic bone. As everything inside your uterus grows (baby, placenta, amount of amniotic fluid), the top of your uterus will move higher up into your abdomen (at 5 months it will be approximately at the level of your belly button). The part of your belly that actually contains your uterus will be hard, so at 5 months that should be the lower half of your abdomen.

Don't worry, at three months the baby is very, very tiny. Your stomach only gets "hard" when your further along and your uterus with the fetus is taking up all the space and pushing everything else out of the way. Good luck.

I would not worry about it because you have a little extra padding in the belly area as long as your doctor is not worried, I was about your weight too when I was pregnant and I just looked at the whole pregnancy like a blessing, because not only was I going to have a sweet baby at the end, I did not have to hold my belly in to zip up my jeans (love that lycra!) or be concerned about it sticking out for 9 wonderful months!! Enjoy your pregnancy!

Nothing, you just aren't showing yet. It might possibly take 3 more months before you'll notice a real change; but you could start noticing in a couple of weeks. Just be patient, everyone's pregnancy is a little different. If you're still uneasy about it, be sure to check with your OB/GYN.

Nothing is wrong, in about the 5th months you'll really start to see the difference. Then those last few months, get ready for it , you'll surely show. I swear I felt and probably looked like humpty-dumpty that last month.
