People sit in your guest chair and have the dirt of your shoes on their bottoms. And you wonder if this is a good career move? Get good fitting shoes, and you won't have to take them off. It is rude to be shoeless, and may also be against workman's compensation safety regulations as well, even in an engineering office - you could be disciplined or even fired for it.
The fact that your feet are odiferous adds to the objectionability of your action.

i dont know if its a good or bad career move but i surely know that its not a professional attitude to remove your shoes at workplace and more over keep them on the guest chair.

sounds like you should invest in more shoes, rotate them daily, giving them a chance to dry out, this will reduce odour
why would you want to put your shoes in plane sight & smell, why not put them under your desk with some dr scholls foot powder in them
why would you want to walk around in your socks, or are you (as I used to do) keep a pair of office shoes under your desk for when you get to work

If you gotta take them off, keep your feet and socks clean and get some odor eaters for the shoes. Keep them under your desk and it should be fine. Girls take their painful shoes off all the time.
