If you had a big date or work event and you wanted to impress, would you consider renting a high fashion piece of clothing? (think Versace pants, Roberto Cavalli dress, Balenciaga suit, etc) What would concern you most?

How do you feel about companies like bag borrow and steal?

I think obviously it doesn't make sense to do it for something you can get out of the Gap. The challenge is that you will see your self over and over again. But what if you wanted to make a statement or you really like Yves St Laurent, but havea problem spending $1500 for a skirt that will go out of style in a few seasons. Renting could be a financially responsible way to live the luxe life. High fashion by definition is fake and fantasy. How many of you carry fake Gucci or Louis Vuitton or Coach bags? How is this any different?

I would consider renting in certain situations. For example, If a piece was perfect for the look I wanted for some special event, but I knew I'd never wear the item again.

I wouldn't, but that's just me. One shouldn't dress like a total slob, but if someone cares about the difference of what tag's on your butt they have issues. I have a blazer I bought on sale and I think it looks nicer than the designer suits that cost hundreds of dollars a piece.

I have facial piercings at the moment because I'm in an industry that's rather relaxed... go me!

Oh, but if I were going to a dinner, I'd want a nice dress... but I'd purchase one at that point, because there's no rule that says a woman can't wear the same dress to two occasions. (Hey, if men can get away with wearing the same suit or tux...)

I do tend to change accessories (earrings, necklace, bracelet, sash/belt, etc) but the main clothing can stay the same.

Guys rent tuxes so it would be the same thing. I could not rent a dress however, that would be a bit unfortable.
