The job in question is the same thing I do now, only with a higher pay. My current employer never asked for my diploma. This will be the first time that I have ever had an interview where I have been asked to bring one. Is there something I can say or do to get around this?

I just wanted to clear up something, On my resume it only shows that I attended highschool until grade 11, I never lied on my application, which is why I was asking for assistance in how to best handle this during the interview, if I was worried about being looked at as a liar I wouldn't have accepted the interview, but since I didn't lie I want to go for it. And no I am not lazy, I have been busy working and raising my daughter, I have the education and the experiance, I just don't have the piece of paper to back it up. I appreciate the answers from those of you who seem to give genuine and helpfull answers without passing judgement.

Are we to presume you do not have a High School diploma?

Or are you just lazy and don't want to bother with getting it?

Whichever, view this as an assignment. If you can't deliver, why would they believe you can deliver on any other assignment?

Sure, offer excuses, work-arounds, and lies. That will really get you somewhere.

I think that you are going to have to tell the truth because they can always find out if you lie. They may want to contact the high school if you lie about where you graduated. Maybe you could see about getting your GED. Make some calls before Thursday and sign up to take a class and tell them it is something you are working on. It will show responsibility. Otherwise I do not have any other ideas. Good luck. I know what it is like wanting a better job.

Everyone says to go get your GED, which is what you should do, but they don't say when. Go do it Tuesday and Wednesday. Then when Thursday rolls around, tell them you don't have a high school diploma, but you just went and got your GED yesterday. That shows initiative and that you're serious about the job. They've obviously asked for your diploma, because you said you only went to school until the 11th grade. They're either looking for a way to disqaulify you or they want to see if you have your GED. If they didn't hire you for that, they were never serious about hiring you in the first place.
