Specifically, does anyone know how effective any of these are: Emu Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, and Vitamins E/A oil
Also I know that nothing but surgery will really remove them, but I want to know if these help to fade or smooth them at all.

And by the way julieta, no they are not completely preventable. The ones brought on by gaining weight are pretty preventable, but some people who have quick growth spurts and skin with low elasticity will probably get them. Cocoa butter will make your skin soft, but it doesn't really prevent them

I have some slight stretch mark just from growing so fast. I use Vitamin E oil on them two times a day. Sometimes even 3x a day after I shower. I have already noticed a dramatic difference. Plus, it is way cheaper than those "Stretch Mark Creams".

Mederma is the only thing I've had any luck with - and you have to use it religiously for about 6 weeks. They won't totally go away, but they'll be much lighter.
The others are supposed to be good for preventing stretch marks - but didn't work for me!

cocoa butter is supposed to help. Massage may also help. Anything that helps your skin might give some assistance (like plenty of water, exercise, eating well, moisturizers) and certainly can't hurt.

Girl -- I just had a baby and stretchmark is my middle name -- Mederma (which is a gel/cream you can buy over-the-counter) does fairly well in helping to speed up the process of fading them, but they're still there-- just not bright red/purple..... Between you and me, after I have one more baby, I'm going to have a laser done to have them removed better -- but good luck to you!!!!

Are you familiar with Strivectin? It's suppposed to be wonderful for stretch marks (and now it's being marketed as a wrinkle cream as well) but it's quite expensive.
