Does it help to have connections in the medical field? I've been married just over 2 years and am not pregnant, but I got to thinking about this since all my friends have been having babies right and left recently. I would be terrified at the thought of labor (all the things that can go wrong, the pain, and potential for being disfigured "down there" etc. etc. etc.). I know there are risks with c-sections but I think I'd rather take them....

My husband and I aren't planning on kids for a while - I am just curious about this.

Isn't it true that it "stretches" you out you-know-where.....?

Trust me, labor is better than a c-section. the recovery is half the time. your body goes back faster. Don't be scared. I did at two times, drug free and i can't even handle a splinter!

sorry to break this to you but docotrs dont do c-sections for the reasons you have mentioned. and also a c-section has alot more pain involved. i had one. i was in pain for 6 weeks. with my labor and delivery with my daughter i was pain free in two weeks. why have major surgery if you dont need it. the natural way with an epidural is alot safer and better and you are disfigured. swollen for awhile yes but not disfigured. talk to an obgyn about your conerns when you get pregnant. labor isnt all that badand as soon as you see your baby you forget about the pain. with a c-section you are stuck in bed for at least a day, then you have to walk which hurts like hell your stomach feels like its gonna fall out and your nurse and ob will come in and mash on your poor tummy every hour around the clock. this hurts also. go vaginal. you heal faster and get back to your life faster its also cheaper. ask anyone who has had a c-section and a vaginal birth which they preferred and why. i have had both and would go vaginal in a heartbeat. there has to be a medical reason before you get a c-section

A doctor really doesn't care if you deliver vaginally or by c-section........BUT you insurance company does.... If you were self pay, you could just request one. If you have insurance, there better be a reason for it other than you not wanting to labor and deliver vaginally.
A lot of people forget that a c-section is classified as major surgery. It is not as easy as they think. It can be a hard recovery process.

I used to be petrified of the pain also. But I knew that trying to have my daughter the natural way was the healthiest thing for her. I got through a 15 hour delivery and she was worth every bit of pain. Trust me, it's not as bad as the movies make it out to be (ok, yeah it hurts like hell but it's not like someone is sawing off your arm!) I'm not disfigured down there either...

I understand some of your fears/concerns but that's what God made a woman's body to do. I'd rather have my child vaginally and have a much shorter recovery time than going through surgery and taking 6 or more weeks to heal. I want to enjoy my newborn baby.

Having had a c-section NO you don't want one if you can help it.
The recovery is so much longer (My back still hurts 1.5 years later) breastfeeding is difficult, not impossible, but harder. I didn't get to bond with my daughter right away. It was over a half hour before I got to hold her.and of course I have a lovely little scar :-(

That's not your choice. You won't be disfigured you ding-dong. Maybe you should concentrate more on having a healthy baby rather than yourself. Please don't get pregnant until you change your views. You could always hope that your pelvic bones are too narrow to let your baby through and maybe after hours of laboring they will give you your precious c-section. Weirdo.

If you want kids you better be prepared to do it "that way" . Don't think about it. You don't have to get pregnant just cause they are. It sounds like you are not ready. Just enjoy your hubby for a while. Relax OK?

just adopt. there's tons of kids out there that could use a home.

and if you cannot stand the thought of the pain of giving birth, then how in all the hells do you think you will be able to actually raise one?
