I have no idea how people could hate someone whose life was dedicated to love. There is no question that Jesus was a real, historical figure. Whether he was the "son of God" is a matter of one's individual belief (or faith, if you prefer). I agree with the answerer's "Santa Claus" reference, to a certain extent. People DO get turned off by the constant references to Jesus, or religion in general, particularly if they are not believers. Stuffing religion down someone's throat is the worst way to make converts. Just look at how poorly Islam is faring right now. The Crusades and the Inquisition didn't do any better either. If people are destined to become believers, it will happen when it's time for it.

The truth is that, if "Jesus" really existed, he must have been tall, dark and handsome, and extremely charming. I mean, c'mon we're still talking about him 2000 years later.
I'm not religious, I'm a scientist and believe in the truth: there are no gods without humans.
On the other hand, people shouldn't be disrespectful of others beliefs; and SERIOUSLY, what bad things can you say about this "Jesus" guy. He sounded like a real good person to me, we could all learn a thing or two, like how to respect others' beliefs.
Just remember this:
JESUS LOVES YOU

You can't be a true Christian and still respect all other religions. As Christians think they have the only "true" religion. Do you know how many people have been killed because they were'nt "Christian" ? Millions ! The early explorers wiped out whole cultures of North and South America because they were'nt Christian. In fact they tried to destroy every culture they came into contact with that was different. Do you know how many people were killed in Europe because the church people "thought" they were a "witch" ? Over 150,000! And most of them were women. Many burned alive ! No, one day they won't be sorry. There's millions of Buddhists, Taoists, Muslims, ect, ect, who don't believe the same way as you do.

religion is such a burden that people want to react nastily. they think jesus started christianity. the priests are the culprits. they have spun an ugly philosophy around a beautiful man so any hateful remarks should be directed at them, if hateful remarks do serve any purpose

Probably those are the same people that post hateful remarks on all questions. It could be a pet question, a travel question or one about religion. Unfortunately they either think they are being funny or they have a lot of anger to spew out.

Where would Satan be without HATRED? Most of the time, it is people being mean and hateful. Being mean and hateful is what keeps Satan in business.
Christians know this, and they also rejoice when they are persecuted. WE are to be glad when we are made fun of, ridiculed, and disrespected. WHY? It forces the topic to be dealt with and glory to God comes out of those posts.
Do they get joy? I do not know what they see when they look into the mirror at the end of the day, but I really do not think it is joy. No one likes to be a puppet of another, why would they? And Puppets are exactly how Satan uses them. But, Satan calls it free speech, liberty, and "speaking your mind."
Do not let it worry you, there are more of US than THEM. We KNOW who we serve.

You ******* Christians. One can recognize a sheep of any of the monotheistic religions by the "one day..." constructions. One day, nothing at all will happen to all the bad people. And yes, it's people, not ppl. Or maybe you meant something else by ppl.
And now, for the random disturbing comment about Jesus:
He came down for the second time as a black woman, ended working as a crack-whore, asked me do I want a ******** and I declined. Said "No way, you're black, Jesus Christ, are you insane?!".
Have at you!
(Yes, I find this amusing.)

There will always be an equal number of people who will hate you and those who will love you, duality is the nature of life, so if you are wise, you will start behaving like Jesus, and find peace in non duality, in oneness of all.
There are an equal numbers who regularly write love notes to Jesus, and hate notes as well, and He loves both of them equally, because He doesn't differentiates and knows that it doesn't take much time or effort to convert love into hate or vice versa, so He remains peaceful and loving as that is what will create more love and less hate in world.
May that be your contribution to the world and to Jesus and that is my prayer for you.

Most people say because He doesn't exist. But what they don't realize is that they are the ones trying to push their beliefs down our throats. They believe he doesn't exist, but at the same time we are one hundred percent sure that he does exist. Scientists, atheists, etc.: we are sure of what we believe. So then, why is it that they are always saying that he is not real and don't want to let us say that he is? To me, that's just an egocentric reaction to not admit the only truth: Jesus is the Lord and Savior, Creator of the Universe.

You are right. I'm also a Christian and it makes me sad that they would talk horrible about My Jesus. Why they do it I have no idea. They are being very desrespectful and I agree with you, they will be sorry in the end. We just need to pray for them.
