Its actually sort of scary how easy it is because basically all you need to do is to react glycerol or glycerine with concentrated Nitric acid and you can produce nitroglycerin, granted it won't be very pure but it Will still explode if given a large enough shock, just be very careful with it and don't blow anybody up

Without mentioning the obvious illegality of doing this, consider that Alfred Nobel's brother was killed in an explosion at their plant.

It is very hard to get, and keep the nitric acid strong enough.
How are you going to control the temperature and keep it from running away?

Anyone who knows how to do it won't, and those who have to ask shouldn't!

Same goes for nerve agents; Dr Schraeder was almost killed when a drop of Tabun hit the floor. One drop. And he was a PhD. You just don't do some things.
And stay away from acetone peroxide too.

I nearly got my hand blown off making gunpowder when I was a kid. I had to go to the ER and wear bandages for 2 weeks.

Join a rocket club or something. Find a more safe and legal outlet for your pyromanic tendencies. We all go through that phase--and most have some experience that causes us to stop.

I read about a kid who made some at home, the police bomb squad in his hometown called in the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team for help. Last I heard, he is still doing time in a Federal penitentiary. You're smarter than he was. Stay alive and stay out of jail. Life is tough enough with all your arms and legs, let alone when you're missing some.

WHAT? MAKE NITRO GLYCIREN !

Trust me - you don't really want to know. The stuff is very unstable - and extremely lethal.

Do your parents know what you're doing in the back of the garage?

What ever happened to making model airplanes, go carts and hot rods?

Homemade Nitroglycerin

You need glycerin, concentrated sulfuric acid, and concentrated (red fuming) nitric acid. You also need a water-cooled reaction vessel. Add the sulfuric acid to the glycerin, and stir in the nitric acid very carefully. The oily liquid at the bottom of the vessel is nitroglycerin.

I cannot emphasize too strongly that this procedure is exceedingly dangerous. Nitroglycerin has a nasty habit of exploding for no obvious reason -- it is chemically unstable, which is why it explodes at all. If you actually try the procedure outlined above, the odds are quite good that you will kill yourself, not to mention causing death and destruction to your surroundings.

nitro can be made quite easily, the hard part is handling it.

if you can get your hands on some dynomite, then you can let it "sweat" and collect the "sweat", which is mostly pure nitro.

Without very special equipment and a ton of knowledge, all you would do is blow up the house. It is very hard to make even in a well stocked lab.
