My friend needs someone reliable with a Class A CDL to drive a semi for her company. We went to Monster.com and you have to pay between $650 and $1200 to search the resume database. Is there somewhere else that we can get a reliable driver??

I was a truck driver for 12 years, five of which I was an owner operator. The really good drivers (in most cases) stay with the same company or are independent. Unfortunately, in the 3 million drivers on the road my guess is 5% of them are "good". There are a lot of folks out there that think they are drivers and have no business being in a truck! Rude, inconsiderate tailgaters that are one paycheck away from the poor farm so they drive as many miles and as fast as they can so they can get unloaded and get to the next load and do it all over again!

Good Luck!
Devin

Truck drivers is almost a warm body hunt. There are lots out there who are dissatisfied with their current employer. If your friend has other drivers, she could let them know she needs another driver and they will do the advertising for her, especially if there is a recruiting bonus. She could also post an ad at the local truck stop and be strict and pose detailed questions when checking the references.
