Okay, as an example, if you're a stay at home Mother and you have two children under school age to be responsible for but you're not a responsible person because you're an alcoholic. So you're not watching the kids the way you should because you're bombed and fall asleep on the couch.The kids get into everything and make a mess out of the house. They are touching things they shouldn't be, playing with your lighter because you smoke cigarettes. You're not aware as you konked out. So therefore you are saying this person is not a Mother as she isn't doing her job. This is just an example now. I say that she will always be a Mother as she gave birth to these children. She may be a neglectful Mother who should get to rehab and get help, she may be jeopardizing herself and her children by not being aware of the consequences that could occur. But she is still a Mother........

i would add to your first statement, you are what you do AND do not do. for example, someone who has gone to alcoholics anonymous and has been sober for 14 years and 3 months, IS what he does NOT do as much as what he does do. So if what you said is true:
you are what you do
and what I added is true:
...and don't do
then you would still be, even if you did not.

Everyone is what they do. For example; If you have good manners towards others, then you are well-mannered. Or if you pick fights and call people names and make fun of them, then you are weird and ill-mannered.
