There was a question as to whether or not a youngster should get a horse. I was going to answer, realize that a horse needs a lot of space (one to five acres minimum), takes a lot of time every single day - no matter what you feel like or how much homework you have, a horse needs at least 2 hours of your time feeding, watering, grooming, mucking stalls and if you're caught up, catching a ride. You also need to check fencing, which can be expensive if you don't have it already. Please don't expect your parents to do the work with your horse. Check into local 4H clubs, they can help you on your horse quest. Expect to also spend a lot of extra time online trying to find the best solution to any horse need, what kind of fence (I recommend www.horseguardfence.com), what kind of hay and feed, any behavior problems you might have, tack, a barn, shed, stall or shelter.....it's a lot of work! If this still sounds like something you want, go for it! Good luck to you, sweetie!

You deleted your question before I could answer it!
Hope this info is helpful to you. Just as an idea, let me give you an idea of some horse expenses:
100 bales of hay per horse per year (minimum), $300-$500 (plus someplace to store them)
Fencing for about 2 acres: $800 for T-Posts, Horse Guard fencing, electric charger, etc.
50-60 bags of feed per year at $10 bag - $600 (plus the gas money to go get it all the time...)
Farrier to trim hooves, not shoe, at least $200 per year
Vet bills just for vaccinations, Coggins test, exam, etc.: $300 per horse per year
Dewormer: $100 per year

This is just a start - consider shelter/barn/stall for your horse, grooming equipment, feeder/waterers and something to hold 2 weeks of feed safely from rats or moisture, tack, halter, lead ropes, grooming equipment....
I don't mean to discourage but there really IS a whole lot to think about, work out with your parents, or do extra chores to help pay for.
Again, hope this helps you and good luck!
