Perhaps this isn't the right section for part of my questioin, but for the other part it is...

I know some people don't think tattoos are attractive or classy on women, but I'd like to get something small on my ankle.

Some ideas I've thought of are a butterfly, dragonfly, star/moon crescent or something like that.

Any opinions on what you think would be good are appreciated, or if you have any new suggestions that would be great too.

Also, for guys... do you like girls with tattoos or not? And for the fun of it ladies, do you like guys with tattoos?

Thanks to those who have answered... I agree that it should have some meaning to me instead of just being a symbol I like. I'll definitely think about it before I do anything permanent.

I have a butterfly just above my right ankle. It's my newest tattoo and so far my favorite.

All of the ideas you have sound like they would look good on the ankle...but there are a million other things to choose from too.

Check out TattooJohnny.com You can actually search by size there and get some cool ideas of small tats. There are a million other sites too...but I like Johnny. The original design for my butterfly came from there, but I had my artist change it up to make it unique...

I am never self conscious about my tattoo...in fact, I wear flip flops all the time just so I can show it off :)

Have fun...and good luck finding something you love :)

A couple years ago I got a tattoo on my ankle, along with 3 friends. We were on vacation and decided to get a tattoo to remember our fun times together. At the time I figured something small would look fine in any situation and I had always wanted a tattoo. But seriously anytime I need to dress up (wear a dress) I'm very conscious of the tattoo and feel that it looks tacky. Because of this I try in anyway to hide the tattoo (make up and nylons no matter the temp). I'd suggest like the other person.....wear temporary tattoos for quite sometime first before marking your body for life. I would suggest for at least 6 months - 1 year. Good Luck.

When my grandmother died in January of 2005 at the age of 98, I and all my female cousins got a Celtic knot butterfly tattooed somewhere on our bodies. It symbolized grandma's freedom from pain and her return home (Scotland). I had mine done on the outside of my calf just below my right knee. Hundreds of people have stopped to ask me about it and compliment the workmanship.

All the male cousins got a stylized cross with her initials. They turned out fantastic!

Make sure it's something you can live with the rest of your life, and make ultra sure that you get it done by the best artist you can find. Nothing worse than a tattoo that's done badly.

I love seeing tattoos on anyone, but nothing sexier than a man wearing one on a toned upper arm. Hate seeing a body suit of tattoos, and especially hate seeing a body full of mismatched, unrelated artwork. Not crazy about the facial ones either unless you're Maori.

And BTW: They DON'T hurt all that much! The people that tell you they do are just BIG babies.

If you have to get a tattoo get it where you can cover it up in a situation where you are trying to look classy. Seriously, did you ever watch charmed? They take those gorgeous girls, put them in gorgeous gowns (from time to time) and still there are those ugly glaring tattoos, it just makes the whole thing look like dressed up trailer trash. If you want to decorate your ankle get some beautiful ankle bracelets, you can change them to go with each different outfit, they are attractive and you can remove them if they aren't appropriate. Would you commit to wearing the same shirt everyday? Or even the same earrings for the rest of your life because thats essentially what you are doing. If you were born with some large discoloration of your skin you would be thrilled to find a way to get it 'fixed' why pay for an ugly discoloration? Its like requesting the placement of a wart on your nose! And if you change your mind someday, or meet the man of your dreams but he hates tattoos on women you are going to be wishing that thing gone and there is no getting rid of it, at least not without leaving an ugly scar.

My friend has a nice lil heart with angel whings on her ankle. I'm partial to the chinese symbols. And I think some guys are hot with tattoos. I like tribal bands, personally. But if its something cool somewhere else, I'm sure I'd like it too. Oh and another suggestion look on google for tattoo ideas, they usually have very original things on there.

I have one on my lower back it a crescent moon with stars around it. Ankles a good spot you can get anything you want just make sure you get something that fits your personality. Even a birth sign or sun sign are good choices.
Guys with tattoos are sexy. Love to see the tat on their arms and shoulder blades.

I have four small-medium sized tattoos (2-shoulder blades, 1-stomach and 1-hip/thigh). What i did before i got my first tattoo was draw the design where i wanted it to go and see if i liked it. You can go to some tattoo places where they do tempory tattoos. My oldest tattoo is 11 years and i don't regret getting it done because its something that i chose because it means something to me (dolphin) and i thought it through thoroughly. If you're unsure on the design, try them all out in henna or something similar. I love guys with some tattoos

I don't think it has to have a meaning. I just think you should like it lol. I didn't like tatoos before. I dunno, from the right perspective they're alright though. Kinda edgy. These days, it seems everyone has got em though. I guess they just seem silly to me. If it's right for you, you should just pick what you like for whatever reason and go for it. But to me, I think you shouldn't because you're too worried about what other people think.

P.S. what I like in a girl is that I can get along with her, and if she's smart, funny, emotionally open, and challenging without being overly critical or demanding/fearful. If a woman has the right personality for me, she'll be attractive to me with or without a tatoo :P

Well I will take it upon myself to answer this for Marie... Small tats out of the way are fine. But anything extreme you will soon regret as she has learned. Who cares what others think. Do what makes you happy. By the way I find her tats very attractive and erotic. But honestly its whats on the inside that counts.

I think a small tattoo on your ankle would be classy. I like tattoos as long as they are classy. Im not really into big tattoos myself.
