What are some techniques for getting my baby to bottlefeed?

Until recently I could not breast or bottle feed. I can breast feed now, but would like a few pointers to get my little one to bottlefeed. She still has to take majority of her food via an ng tube in the nose.

(1) experiment with different nipples (2) stimulate the baby a lot during feeding... wiggle the nipple around in the mouth, stroke the feet, etc. Keep at it! Good luck!

for breastfed babies try the nipples that say on it FOR BREASTFED babies. Also try squeezing out some breastmilk onto the nipple. A breastfed baby will not take a bottle from the momther. The baby can smell milk on you and refuse the bottle in my exp. Have someone else give the bottle and you leave the house I mean go outside or in a nother room. if that dosent work have the person who is feeding your child put on of your shirts.

these are all pretty good ideas but to be honest it didnt work for me and my daughter, but it did for friends of ours. Good Luck momma

Try putting alittle breast milk on the outside of the nipple.Keep doing this till he takes use a good amount around the outside of the tip of the nipple so he thinks hes getting nipple.Also try to bring her natural feeding senses back by going back and foruth on her lips to get her to follow.Try this when shes hungry for a few min.at a time.I hope it helps.Good luck.

You could buy special bottle nipples if your baby won't take a regular shaped bottle nipple. Also even the feel of the nipple, for ex., my daughter never used the yellow/brown looking nipples. She only drank from the clear silicone bottle nipples - some babies are just fussier.
