Artwin from what I understand all of the non-Christian manuscripts that mention Christ's (supposed) ministry have been proven to be forgeries by (surprise!) Christians. They can tell because Latin and Greek changed from generation to generation just as English does today. So when scholars find a 20 page manuscript from say 50 AD, but one of the pages is written in the dialect of 200 AD, then they know that particular page must be a forgery that was inserted into the original at a later date.

I'm sorry guy, but all of the so-called historical references to "Jesus Christ" are of this quality. Your guru was in his own time, a completely unknown and anonymous person outside of religious (and I guess law enforcement) circles in ancient Judea. In fact, that was probably the motivation for the forgeries. The early Church was embarassed by the fact that their guru, the supposedly greatest human being who ever lived, was so totally obscure.

I say "Jesus Christ" to be polite, but his real name was believed to be "Yeshu Bar Yusef" which I prefer to use, because I honestly don't consider him to be a redeemer or a messiah or anything of the kind. As a philosopher the guy's teachings (well, alleged teachings) aren't even interesting, never mind life-altering.....

I mean a lot of the New Testament sounds like the kind of crap some brain-damaged hippy would say.......

I don't need to check some source that is prejudiced in favor of Yahweh, the Hebrew god. I can see that the Bible is quite wrong scientifically and that it has many contradictions. I've "really done more research" than you ever will. You do some research and not just stuff that tries to support a belief system without even questioning it. Real research looks at both sides of any issue. I took Bible History in college and learned that there are many contradictions in the Bible. A book Billy Graham gave me lists more of them and glibly tries to explain them, but that isn't convincing. There is no evidence of a world flood, and Noah's Ark would fall apart in the sea. It couldn't hold examples of all animals. Bishop Ussher's Bible study found creation was in 4004 BC, but scientists find the Universe is 15,000,000,000 years old. The Bible says pi is 3, but it's 3.14159...so i ccannot use the Bible in engineering. The Bible says Judas died by hanging, and it also says he died by falling. He didn't die twice!

Depends what you mean. I don't believe that the Bible is scientifically correct. But if you don't take it quite so literally, science does not really contradict it either. The "big bang" pretty accurately describes "and God said 'Let there be light'." In my opinion, the Bible authors were not concerned with scientific accuracy but about the idea that God created everything and what he created was good.

As to whether or not the events are historically correct - there have been a number of programs on the History Channel that show how the plagues, for example could have happened and also archeology programs about historical Biblical sites.

The Bible was not written by any god, but by men, then translated and rewritten by other men. Men, by Christian definition and common sense, are fallible.

The other manuscripts in the world you write of were also written by men.

Also, the books of the Bible were written from 30-150 years after Jesus supposedly died.

The Bible is the Word of God. Everything in it from Genesis to Revelation. For those who do not believe it is, then they need to trust and ask Jesus to be their Saviour. To know 100% sure that you are going to Heaven when you die is the most important thing you will ever do. The plan of salvation comes from the Bible. It is free, no strings attached. I am so thankful and grateful I have the Bible and God in my life.

The bible is incomplete in some places.A lot of it is true (in my opinion being christian) but also some of the things mentioned in the bible are story's told by Jesus and other people. So there is some truth to the bible being untrue...but only the story's told by people. Everything els (in my opinion) is true.

I believe in God, however my concern is that really well-intentioned people take it as completely the word of God. We have to understand that some is allegorical, some could be translation errors, and some are insertions through the ages. What I do is pray, believe in God, and try to overlook the fact that we humans make errors. In other words, forgive, Al.

My evidence that there is a God is in all things. My children are the biggest proof. The Bible is entirely factual. Read a history book, you will find "evidence" there.

As a history book, it's pretty decent, actually. Huge amounts of lineages, Jewish perspective on the ancient world...sure, there's a bias, but there's a bias in any history book.
