I agree with ALL of your choices EXCEPT the lead vocalist. Janis Joplin backup and harmony vocals? Yeah right!(sarcasm). She deserves to be the lead vocalist.

UPDATE: I forgot about Jaco Pastorius. He would be the bass player. If there was a horn section (or horn soloists) it would have to include John Coltrane and Charlie Parker on sax and Miles Davis on trumpet.
