Usually its because they feel the most secure after marriage. Before, it's not a good idea for obvious reasons.. but by the time the dating scene, the party scene, and all those little phases people go through early in life pass, (for the stereotypical person mind you.) most women when they think of marriage are already mentally settling down into the family scene, so it makes sense that the babies would come soon afterward.
