First things first. Get your credit cards and pick ONE you want to keep. I recomend that it be the one that has the LOWEST balance on it and can be used for only a few things like gas or cloths. All the other, cut them up. Start paying the minimum on all your cards and pick the one with the lowest amound and pay it off. Than pick the next lowest amount and pay it off. It will become easier to pay the cards off because you will have more money to work with as you pay other cards off. Just be frugal and try to cut expences while you are in this down sizing process. You can do it. Good luck

You may want to see if a bank or credit union you belong to has free debt couseling or if there are non-profit organizations in your area to help you. However, if you've got the time and are willing to extend the effort, you may want to contact the people you owe yourself to try to work something out. Most are willing to work with people because they don't want them filing bankruptcy. Call them about deferred payment plans, lowering interest rates, try transferring your credit card debt to a card with a 0% interest rate (though watch what the rate is going to be after the 0% runs out)

Though I do have to say this- good on you for trying to find a solution that isn't bankruptcy.
