i got a message on AIM but it came up in weird characters... i think it was because it was sent via cell phone...

it looks like it is a binary message. it may have gotten corrupted in transmission, or maybe someone sending a virus. Its pretty much impossible to tell. Do you know who sent it? If not, just delete it, if so, ask them what it is or to resend it.

Usually when you get something like that its because you don't have the proper "keyboard text characters" (say Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) installed to handle "that language" that it came in or as you said, it came from something that was not compatible with your computer.
