Topamax can cause weight loss, primarily because it can cause people's sense of taste to get a little weird. What I've heard specifically is in regards to diet sodas--they become tasteless. So people don't want to eat as much and can lose weight.
Side effects--some people do get kidney stones. The side effects that were mentioned previously, of some confusion and some difficulty with judgment...I've seen them in some individuals but generally at higher dosages.

Hi there,
Many of my patients have difficulty tolerating Topamax because it often leaves the person feeling quite "jumbled" and forgetful. Some people describe it as feeling "out of it" or "in a cloud". That said, some of my patients have had no reaction whatsoever. You are unique, and will respond in your own way.
One of the side effects can be a little weight loss (and yes, I have seen this happen with some of my patients).

I dunno bowt Topa, but, I DO know a LOT of people who lost a LOT of weight with EXCERCISE!
