Is there a reason you feel that you need to become 'goth'?
It's just a steryotypical phrase used for people who like to be by themselves and wear dark clothng. Not all so-called 'goths' cut themselves, just like not all 'preps' are overly chipper. It's the same way that not everyone with glasses should be classified as a 'nerd' or a 'geek'. Labels shouldn't run your life. Wear what you want to wear.
Your boyfriend likes you for who you are, not what you look like. Immitation is not always a good wayto go (in fact, immitation limits what you can do, want to do or feel like doing, because you keep trying to hold up something that isn't you.
Anyway, when you go to college and the real world 'trends' don't actually matter.

The days of "goth" and Marilyn Manson are so out! I don't know where you live, but you just don't see that look anymore in major metropolitan cities. It's all about being yourself, and enjoying life and fashion. The goth lifestyle is about an ill perceived notion of being oppressed. Do you feel oppressed? Why limit yourself to just black? I guess I just don't get it. I know your young, but think about your future here... Most businesses, colleges, and people in general, do not understand or accept the goth look. Why make things harder on yourself? Be who you are... Boyfriends come and go, but your stuck with yourself forever. Honor who you really are, and like someone else said, enjoy the contrast between yourself and your step-sister.

Well, I went backwards, actually! :) I went from gothic to normal. :P But, I think I can help. You don't want to make the transition right away. If you're serious about this, of course. Add me to Y! Messenger, because it's pretty lengthy. Small.Gods

I would say screw being goth and just be yourself. If you yourself are goth, then acting gothic should just come naturally. Has far as clothing and makeup go, if your step sis, her bf, and your bf are all goths, can't you just observe, and otherwise ask them for advice? And remember, being goth is a lifestyle- it doesn't just mean you wear black clothes and thick eyeliner. Only do it if it's who you really are.

Your first step is to talk to your step sister. Get a good idea about what she can tell you about the culture. No matter what you decide to do, do it with your own unique, individual style.

Gothic is not a "look", it's a lifestyle. I think I'd stick to jumpers and knee socks if I were you.

Uhm, you dont just turn goth, are you a goth at heart? dont become goth just cuz you feel like it. If you really want to dress goth then try the head to toe black outfit, complete with fishnets, chains, skulls, checkered stuff, and black/red combos. I suggest heavy eyeliner, smudged alot, black mascara, and dye your hair black too and maybe add some red/bright green highlights (not both at the same time). Uhm, to "act" goth then you just gotta......you can figure that part out, you live with and date one.

It relies upon on what lies previous that mountain. each and every step will lead you previous that mountain, yet then all of it ought to no longer pass in ineffective. Its no longer continuously that the hardest of stressful situations factors the finest of outcomes. you need to draw close what lies in the back of that mountain, and actually climb if its nicely worth it. playstation : no longer continuously do you need to climb the mountains; each and every so often its good to apply the valleys.
