Probably totally family friendly Hilton below: on the bay,
very close to walk-to playground and kite flying, immediate to Sea World and ocean beaches, not far from Balboa Park Zoo or museums, indeed close to Birch Aquarium in La Jolla and Padre ballpark, not all that far to Disneyland.
In retrospect, this might be the best family hotel in San Diego!

There is an Embassy Suites downtown (one room, keep an eye on the kids), right across the street from Seaport Village. From there you can walk to a Padre game, take the water taxi to Coronado, or go just about anyhwere else that makes San Diego popular for families (Zoo, Sea World, Old Town).

Del Coronado is lots of fun - right on the beach, great pool - it was a famous place for Hollywood stars to hang out ages ago. When I stay there, I see lots of families etc. Easy access to all San Diego attractions.
