we will be lucky to be out of iraq in 5 years

Sure. The Iraqis want us the hell out. Some of 'em are beginning to think fondly of the days back when they were under the rule of a despotic ruler but could walk down the street without being shot. Somehow, that ain't much of a success. Impartial experts all seem to agree that we have about three times too many troops there to do any good. We're just being a magnet for trouble.

So Iraq doesn't want us there, and we don't want us there, why are we still there? Someone must have some kind of interest. But I won't say who.

Sure. We have an ongoing troop deployment, that is not serving American interests, and we need to decide what to do about it.

Why we went there in the first place isn't relevant. Let's get past the first place. We're there. What is relevant is what we do now.

The problems facing the country are the continued expenditure of resources, and risk (or loss) of lives, with no clear objective and no timetable. Since we have no goals that we can accomplish, our entire deployment is solely at the discretion of the Iraq govt.

In other words, under current policy, it's no longer up to the US how long we stay. That needs to change. Congress needs to set realistic limits on spending, and like any venture make future commitments of resources based on accomplishment of milestones. If Iraq doesn't meet the milestones, we should withdraw our support.

Sure Iraq was a slam dunk and the mission is accomplished.

Next president will be Jeb Bush. You got a problem with that.

of course. just mention all of the same stuff about the illegal war, the constant lies, and the atrocities that the current administration is responsible for.

you don't have to criticize bush, because he is a puppet, and doesn't make any real decisions, anyway.
