You can loose weight during the first trimester and at the end of the third trimester. IT is pretty normal though.

It just happens with some pregnancies. Three pounds is nothing at all, especially if you are in the early months, have been having a lot or morning sickness, or were even slightly overweight to begin with.
When I was pregnant, the doctor weighed me, and told me I should gain 30 lbs. during my pregnancy. But before I gained a single pound, I lost 15, due to extreme morning sickness (at all hours of the day!). The doctor wasn't worried, but said that if I continued to loose weight, then he might consider some sort of bed rest or hospital stay or something.
Fortunately, I stopped loosing, my weight plateaued for two months, and then I spent the last 4 months gaining 30 lbs. I never did reach the weight the dr originally prescribed (since my starting weight and my having-baby weight were only 15 or so pounds apart), but my son was perfectly healthy.
Soon enough, you'll start to gain like mad, and you'll wish you could loose 3 pounds!

My sister was overweight when she got pregnant for twins so she actually lost 20lbs during her pregnancy. She ate whole foods and felt terrific throughout. I gained weight in the first and 2nd trimesters and actually lost 6lbs in the 3rd for a total of 24lbs gained. I ate a proper diet and attended aerobics until my 9th month and my baby was 11lbs 1oz!!
Your diet is important, so as long as you try to incorporate the basic food guidelines you should be fine! Best wishes.

It is common to lose some weight in the first trimester if you have morning sickness and can't eat. If you lose a lot of weight or are past the first trimester you should seek medical attention.

When i got pregnant with my second son i weighed 189lbs. I gave birth to him at 187lbs. So if your doctors not worried everythings good! Alot of people lose weight. If you have any questions do not be affraid to ask your OBGYN, it may save yours or your babys life!!! By the way my first child i weighed 160lbs when i got pregnent with him and when i gave birth i weighed 205lbs, so dont be worried every pregnancy is different, even your own. Goodluck in your motherhood and please be happy your not packing on the pounds.
