The thing to ask yourself is what do you know about what you are eating. Ignorant eating is dangerous. Educate yourself about what you are eating. You can then make an informed decision. Parasites, bacteria, and heavy metals such as mercury have been mentioned. Cooking takes care of the first two. Avoiding predatory fish helps with the last one. You need to choose for yourself what risks you are willing to take and be informed before making that decision. If you do not eat much predatory fish, then a little mercury might be acceptable to you for you AND your unborn child. Personally, I would avoid it until after the pregnancy. I do plan to eat a predatory fish sometime, just not in the near future. That is my personal decision. Who knows, I might not live long enough to ever eat that shark or whatever.

Sushi is extremely dangerous. It contains parasites (found in the fish) that are bad for all of us. Simply put: eating uncooked meat, in this modern world, makes no sense. Why take ANY risks when pregnant? Be careful. :)

Sushi is alright, it's Sashimi that's raw, and can hold a lot of bacteria if it's not prepared properly.
But honestly, if you eat your meat at anything less than well done, you're taking the same risks. So have at it.

It is certainly not a good idea! Raw fish can contain bacteria that can be harmful or even fatal to the developing fetus. Fish and seafood can carry listeria, which is very dangerous to pregnant women and the unborn children.
